SANI-TRED LRB (Liquid Rubber Base), a single component, high technology, polyurethane product, has the unique ability to cure at any thickness of application without gassing and molecularly bonds to itself new-to-old without creating cold joints or weakness at the joint. These chemically unique features, when coupled with SANI-TRED Permaflex's ability to permanently penetrate and bond to concrete, creates a waterproofing system which can retain almost sixty times  the amount of negative hydrostatic pressure normally found in a commercial slab-on-grade or below-grade-slab. SANI-TRED systems are used as the critical primer installed before standard two part epoxies, ceramic tile, or other such rigid floor systems to protect them from detachment, blistering, or delamination due to moisture vapor drive. SANI-TRED products provide the perfect bonding platform for most flexible coatings and rigid epoxies even in high load, hard flooring specifications. The SANI-TRED priming coats perform perfectly as an impact and shock absorbing buffer which helps prevent damage to the epoxy surface coats.

SANI-TRED products maintain permanent flexibility and never harden or become brittle, they only become stronger with age. SANI-TRED Permaflex, (liquid rubber primer and top coating), penetrates deeply into the pores of the concrete substrate  and produces tiny solid rubber sealing plugs. These tiny plugs or sealing tentacles in each and every pore or crack in the substrate holds back to retain water pressure before it has a chance to reach the SANI-TRED coating surface to peel it off en masse as with other types of coatings. These sealing tentacles work like tiny, high pressure, hydraulic o-rings or "flexible penetration technology™ ". The tentacles seal, anchor, and lock the coating to the concrete or mortar substrate. This is one of the main characteristic that gives SANI-TRED the ability to retain "negative hydrostatic pressure".

The photos below show a concrete patio block which was coated on one side with SANI-TRED Permaflex which was red-tinted to allow better visual detection of the SANI-TRED microscopic penetration process. The block was then broken in half to show its internal cross section. Notice the penetration of the red Permaflex throughout the entire block.

NOTE: For all interior or exterior floor waterproofing installations, where retaining negative hydrostatic pressure is required, it is critical that all old paints, sealers, waterproofing agents etc, must be removed to allow SANI-TRED products to penetrate and bond to the original concrete surfaces. The fact that SANI-TRED products have the ability to retain negative hydrostatic pressure can be considered an issue of controversy only to those who choose to remain uninformed.
