Swimming pool repair and waterproofing or "underground concrete water tank" requires that the coating and sealants must be capable of  retaining a great amount of "negative hydrostatic pressure". Negative hydrostatic pressure is under-ground water pressure that passes through the substrate and presses on the back side of the pool coating. Constant hydrostatic pressure from the side walls or from beneath the footing and floor will never detach SANI-TRED products. They will not peel, blister, chip, delaminate, or detach from concrete, concrete block, even in the constant presence of negative hydrostatic water pressure on a "raw edge" (the starting or stopping point of the coating.) SANI-TRED is the only complete swimming pool sealing system in the world with the ability to retain "negative hydrostatic pressure" at all possible natural levels. Our swimming pool coating products can be used to repair, seal, and completely waterproof concrete, fiberglass, gunite pools and more.

The ability to withstand more negative hydrostatic pressure than can possibly exist in any below grade structure is precisely what makes Sani-Tred products OVERKILL for any swimming pool repairs or pool leak repair. This coupled with its amazing flexibility and extreme durability sets Sani-Tred aside form the rest as the very best solution for any pool waterproofing and pool leak repair. No other swimming pool coating in the world is capable of withstanding as much movement because they lack the flexibility and the ability to permanently adhere; as a result they are unable to be considered as a permanent pool crack repair product.

Step by Step Swimming Pool Repair, Restoration and Waterproofing:

Products Needed: PermaFlex, LRB (Liquid Rubber Base) and TAV (Thickening Activator)

1. The first thing you would do is prepare the substrate. Meaning remove any loose crumbly substrate, make sure the substrate is clean, dry, free of any previous applied products, and foreign matter.

2. Prime the substrate with 1 coat of PermaFlex (240 sq ft per gal). This first coat of PermaFlex will penetrate into the substrate then cure as tough as a tire. This penetration enables Sani-Tred PermaFlex to permanently adhere to the original substrate for the life of the structure. Shown using light grey.

3. Patch and profile any joints, seams, cracks, holes and rough areas using LRB/TAV mixture (Liquid Rubber Base, Thickening Activator). When LRB is combined with TAV you will have a thickened mixture that can be applied at ANY thickness in one application. Wall/floor junctions require a 1” bead of LRB/TAV mixture. LRB can be used by itself (as a liquid membrane) to self level and smooth out any rough horizontal areas. LRB/TAV “Round Caulk Bead Chart”
   
   This LRB and/or LRB/TAV mixture will molecularly weld to the previous ‘prime coat’ of PermaFlex to achieve a permanently adhered and permanently flexible patch.

4. Topcoat using PermaFlex (240 sq ft per gal). This coat of PermaFlex will molecularly weld to the previous applications giving you a 100% waterproof and seamless application. Shown using light tan.

5. Apply at least 1 coat of a good 2-part swimming pool epoxy. Sani-Tred products are resistant to chlorinated water, just not direct contact with the high concentrated chlorine used when you shock. Pool shock chemicals whether liquid, powder or pellet can be as high as 97% chlorine, heavier than water and temporarily settles to the bottom until it is dissolved or completely dispersed.

Poured concrete swimming pools and most other common building materials need 2 coats of PermaFlex on walls and floors. Concrete block walls need a total of 3 coats of PermaFlex because blocked walls are extremely porous. PermaFlex can be brushed, rolled or even sprayed!

Compare Sani-Tred to Other Cement Patch Materials

Cracks are formed by movement, this movement may reoccur several times per year. It is considered common knowledge that cement does not permanently adhere to cement though for some reason the most commonly and widely used patch materials are made of cement. All cementicious products have zero flexibility and zero elongation.  When this movement does reoccur the crack will reflect through the cementicious material. Knowing this it is obvious that no cementicious material can perform even the most basic pool crack repair or any concrete pool repair because they lack every physical quality necessary in order to create a permanent repair.

There are literally 1,000s of materials on the market that can be considered just as ineffective, all you have to do is take a look at the manufacturers’ technical data where the should list the products’ test results.

You Will Find The Following When You Compare SANI-TRED To Other Materials:

• The compared material may be extremely hard and they may claim to withstand negative hydrostatic pressure … though it lacks flexibility and therefore would be an inevitable failure.
  
  
• The compared material may be extremely flexible yet they do not claim to withstand negative hydrostatic pressure … that means that it can not permanently adhere; therefore it will be an inevitable failure.
  
  
• The compared material may be claimed as a ‘1-step’ miracle product. No product or system can possibly be a one-step application and truly remain permanent. In order to permanently adhere, the material MUST penetrate into the substrate NOT just stick to the surface. In order for any material to be capable of patching joints, seams, cracks, holes and rough areas it MUST be viscous or thick enough to cling vertically. If a material is thick enough to cling vertically then it can not possibly penetrate into the substrate in order to obtain a permanent adhesion. This is why the SANI-TRED system is not a 1-step application.

This is why ‘silicone’ and similar products fail routinely! This is why epoxy coatings, rubber pool paint and all cementicious materials like plaster are all in the same category as ‘temporary maintenance products’ and can not stand the test of time.

    SANI-TRED Perma-Flex™, (liquid rubber primer and top coating), penetrates deeply into the pores of the substrate, (foundation building material), and produces tiny solid rubber sealing plugs due to Flexible Penetration Technology® These tiny plugs or sealing tentacles in each and every pore or small crack in the substrate is what holds back and retains ground water pressure before it has a chance to reach the SANI-TRED coating surface to push it off, en masse, as with other types of coatings. These sealing tentacles work like tiny, high pressure, hydraulic o-rings and one of the unique qualities that allow SANI-TRED to hold back great pressure without failure!

Elongation Memory Technology® ensures that when SANI-TRED products are compressed and relaxed, they maintain their original shape and size preventing distortion of their original shape and size which is a major cause of release of coatings from powerful forces such as freeze/thaw cycles, ground water pressure, vibration and sudden shock.

Permanent Elongation™ provides that SANI-TRED products never harden or become brittle; they maintain flexibility and only become stronger with age without breaking down as other coatings do. SANI-TRED Permaflex deep penetrates and strengthens weak concrete or mortar joints which prevent detachment from these types of weak substrates as other coatings are known to do.

No other products on earth can duplicate this transformation, because no other single component coating product may be applied at great thickness like LRB, molecularly bond to themselves and retain negative hydrostatic pressure. SANI-TRED LRB (Liquid Rubber Base), a single component polyurethane product, has the unique ability to cure at any thickness of application without gassing and molecularly bonds to itself new-to-old. NOTE: For all pool waterproofing installations, where retaining negative hydrostatic pressure is required, it is critical that all "scrim coatings", old paints, sealers, waterproofing agents etc, must be removed to allow SANI-TRED products to penetrate and bond to the original concrete surfaces.
