LRB Qualities

LRB (Liquid Rubber Base) is a fluid rubber which will cure throughout its entire volume at ANY THICKNESS in 4 hrs or less at temps 70° F. or higher (longer in colder temps). LRB cures reliably even in extremely cold temps, never produces gas during curing and does NOT generate heat as it cures. LRB is solvent-free, low VOC, low odor, molecularly welds to itself new to old; just to name a few of its unique characteristics. LRB cures to a hardness of “shore A" 65 which is as though as a truck tire and has 650% elongation.

LRB is applied over a surface that has been first primed with PermaFlex.

LRB (Liquid Rubber Base) can be ‘catalyzed’ or ‘activated’ using plain tap water. LRB will still remain as a self-leveling fluid and will cure solid in 4 hours or less at temperatures 70°F or higher (longer in cooler temps). As a fluid, LRB can be used to create a waterproof membrane at unlimited thickness. LRB can be used to self level or smooth out a rough horizontal surface. LRB can be used to create ‘custom poured-in-place gaskets’ or form any solid shapes or in as little as 5 minutes by using special catalysts.

Once LRB has been ‘activated’ (with water or Thickening Activator) it has a pot life of approximately 30 minutes. Unused and non-activated portions of opened LRB containers have a usable shelf life of 4-to-6 months. SANI-TRED LRB is available in its natural off-white color, and has a fluid consistency like 90 wt gear oil or liquid "Elmer's" glue and can be ‘reduced’ using an approved solvent.

Permaflex Waterproofing Step 2 Permalfex Waterproofing Step 3 Mix LRB with TAV Step 1 Mix LRB with TAV Step 2

LRB is extremely versatile, LRB’s viscosity can be adjusted from a self-leveling fluid to thick mixture or any viscosity in between by adding TAV™ (Thickening Activator). LRB can be blended with TAV™ to produce a heavy duty, adhesive, caulk-like mixture for filling and sealing large voids, joints, seams, cracks, holes or rough areas on horizontal, vertical or inverted areas.

TAV™ is mixed with LRB at a 2:1 ratio. 2-parts LRB can be mixed with 1-part TAV™ will create the thickest mixture possible. Less TAV™ can be used to create a ‘runnier mixture’.

A popular method of distributing LRB/TAV™ mixture is to use heavy duty zip-loc bags to produce a disposable applicator like a "mortar bag". This gives the convenience of caulking tubes without the high packaging cost. Large zip-loc bags can hold approx 1 gallon of total mixture.

LRB/TAV™ mixture is simply mixed, placed in the bag, clip the corner of the bag and allows quick application of LRB/TAV™ mixture.

LRB/TAV™ mixture can be applied using a zip-loc bag, putty knife, trowel, flat squeegee or most any common applicator tools.

SANI-TRED LRB is a truly unique product. No other material in the world has all of the qualities and abilities of LRB. Below is a demonstration of LRB’s ability to molecularly weld to itself old-to-new. A piece of glass was treated with a ‘mold release agent’. LRB was tinted red, poured out onto the glass, allowed to cure and more LRB of a different color was poured against the previous pour. Once cured, the entire application was peeled from the glass and cut into test strips to demonstrate LRB’s molecular weld (one of the strips is shown below).

This test strip was stretched to its breaking point. Notice it DID NOT break at the molecularly welded seams!

Available Container Sizes:

  • 1 Quart Steel Can
  • 1 gallon plastic pail
  • 5 gallon plastic pail

Sani-Tred (Liquid Rubber Base) Unique Qualities:

  • Permanent Elongation® - LRB will never become harder or brittle with age and will maintain its flexibility indefinitely.
  • Elongation Memory® - When LRB is drastically stretched and released it will always return to it’s original shape and size preventing distortion of the original shape and size.
  • LRB cures throughout its entire volume, regardless of application thickness, without producing heat or gas. LRB has the unique technical designation of being "water inducted", meaning H2O (water) is the actual catalyst which allows LRB to cure. On the other hand it is important to realize that LRB IS NOT water soluble, meaning LRB cannot be thinned or reduced with water.
  • LRB has the ability to cure "tack-free" at any thickness of application in 4 hours, or less, at temperatures 70° F or higher (longer in cooler temps).
  • LRB has the ability to cure overnight at temperatures -45° F and still retain its cured qualities.
  • LRB is a single component liquid polyurethane with both manual and machine application capabilities.
  • Resistant to break down from U.V. exposure (only surface appearance change if not surface coated). LRB is typically surface coated with either PermaFlex or PermaFlex-AL.
  • LRB is nearly odor-free and is solvent-free.
  • High solids content and extremely low VOC. What Is VOC?
  • LRB has a non-hazardous designation which allows LRB to be packaged, handled, & shipped at the lowest possible cost.
  • Standard pot life is approx 20-30 min at temp 70° F.
  • Adjustable pot life to as low as 5 min (in a mold) by using special catalysts.
  • A shelf life of nearly 4 times that of other urethanes.
  • Extremely durable with unmatched qualities of any other field applied single component polyurethane product in the world.
  • Even as a liquid, LRB may also be subjected to extreme cold during shipping, handling & storage without ill effects.
  • Molecularly bonds/welds to itself, new-to-old, at any stage of curing or age. No other building material has this quality.
  • May be installed on damp concrete for positive above ground containment. The surface must be dry for all negative and/or underground tank installations. Impervious to high humidity conditions, during or after installation. High humidity actually enhances curing of most all SANI-TRED products.
  • The only known liquid coating product that is compatible with, and may be blended with both solvents and water for versatility of installation and economy.
  • Fool-proof user friendly qualities allow LRB to cure even if the applicator forgets to catalyze the material before installation or inadvertently adds too much catalyzing water. All will cure in a reasonable but extended time without costly removal, disposal, or irreversible damage to the finished project.
  • SANI-TRED LRB always fully cures to form harmless solid polyurethanes. This important quality assures that no liquid residual remains within used or partially used and discarded containers which is a major cost saving advantage that eliminates hazardous waste disposal expenses. Often other materials are unable to ever cure as separate components, this includes, and is especially true, of multi-part or plural component coating materials that are rated as 100% solids.
  • SANI-TRED LRB is completely water-proof, "not water resistant" like some other products, even in the presence of constant immersion or standing water on a raw edge.
  • LRB's viscosity may be adjusted from a self leveling fluid to a ‘thickened mixture’ with the same dependable curing abilities by blending the LRB with various quantities of TAV™™. This gives LRB amazing versatility of application.
  • SANI-TRED LRB maintains a permanent flexibility of 650% elongation with incredible strength and lasting durability with adjustable durometer readings from Shore A 35-85.

LRB Limitations:

  • Never reduce or thin LRB with alcohols or any solvent which may contain alcohol (destroys product, prevents curing)
  • Not to be used for high temperature applications where the area will be exposed to above 250 ° F
